Pigskin Pick'em: Make Every Pick Count. The NFL is back (hopefully!) and you're ready to dive into another season of ESPN Fantasy Football, cheat sheets out and sure to prove your drafting skills are on point! But what about your TEAM-BASED knowledge? This is the place to prove you can pick winners. The objective of this game is simple: select the winner of each NFL game throughout the 17-week season by picking either straight-up, against the point spread, or by confidence ranking your straight-up picks. The most correct picks over the course of the season in each format (spread, straight-up and confidence) wins $2000! We're offering a $100 weekly prize in every format throughout the season, and since you're eligible to play in all three you're never out of the running for great prizes. Here's a breakdown of the three formats: Straight: This is the simplest format: pick a team to win, whoever you think is more likely to come out on top. Spread: Before each NFL game begins we will assign it a point spread which helps to even the playing field and make the matchups more competitive. For instance, if the Chiefs are a 9.5 point favorite and they're winning by 13 late in the 4th quarter, the game might be over but the spread still hangs in the balance - and so does your pick. The question is, can you beat our Vegas handicappers? Confidence: In this format your picks are ranked based on how confident you are that each of your selections will win. The higher the confidence number you assign to a pick the more points you'll receive if that team prevails. This means that a good week is no longer dictated strictly by the number of correct picks you make. A successful week with this format may offer the biggest reward in validating your skill, savvy and overall football knowledge. If you're new here, grab your friends and start a group today. If you're a pigskin vet, we're happy to have you and your group-mates back for another great season! Good luck and have fun. And if you're looking for more help in making your picks, we've got all sorts of tools at your disposal:

Below, we look at the fantasy golf power rankings and betting odds for the top 30 golfers at the 2021 American Express. The first two rounds of the tournament will be split between the Stadium Course and the Nicklaus Tournament Course with all golfers who make the 36-hole cut sticking to the Stadium Course for the weekend. The runner-up at the 2019 US Amateur makes his professional golf debut following a T-55 finish at the 2020 Masters. He’s an excellent irons player and will have better success on more neutral putting surfaces. Moved up 11 spots to 125th in the Official World Golf Ranking with a T-11 finish at the Sony Open last week. Gained 1.59 strokes per round putting and stays on Bermudagrass this week. Missed the cut here three times in his last five appearances but has made the cut in nine straight events since the 2020 PGA Championship. He has three top-10 finishes during that stretch, including a T-8 at the US Open. Tied for 25th last week with 0.00 strokes lost or gained on the greens. Averaged 1.25 Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green per round. Finished second on another Pete Dye-designed course at the Travelers Championship last summer. Has averaged 0.51 total strokes gained on the field per round over 13 career rounds at the Stadium Course, according to Data Golf. Tied for fourth in this event last year while ranking second in the field with 2.78 SG: Approach per round. He missed the cut in his 2019 debut. Missed the cut last week due to 3.49 strokes lost putting per round but ranked second in the field in SG: Tee-to-Green and SG: Approach. Slipped to 130th in the OWGR and 359th in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings after playing just seven tournaments last year. He won four times through 2018 and 2019, including the 147th Open Championship. Had just two top-10 finishes against eight missed cuts in 20 events last year, but one of the top 10s was a T-10 in his debut at this event. He has played his best golf early in the season in recent years. No. 27 in the Golfweek rankings despite not registering a win since the 2017 Wells Fargo Championship. Didn’t pick up a top-10 finish last year but was T-21 at PGA West. He tied for third here in 2017. Place your legal, online 2021 American Express bets in CO, IA, IN, NJ, PA, TN and WV at BetMGM . Risk-free first bet! Terms and conditions apply. Bet now ! Twelfth on Tour in Birdie or Better Percentage through 24 rounds on the 2020-21 season. Finished 31st last week while gaining 1.57 strokes per round off-the-tee. The defending champ also finished second in 2018. He relied heavily on his putter last year, but he also averaged 1.94 SG: Approach and 2.22 SG: Tee-to-Green per round. Has been on a steady rise from No. 251 to No. 52 in the OWGR since a missed cut at last year’s Waste Management Phoenix Open. He’s No. 18 in the Golfweek rankings after collecting six top-10 finishes in his last 17 events. Only one golfer in this field has played more rounds on the Stadium Course. He has averaged 1.02 strokes gained on the field per round over his 14 laps but missed the cut last year. Just two top-10 finishes in 20 events last season. Tied for 21st in this event despite a dreadful 1.77 strokes lost around-the-green per round. His distance doesn’t provide his usual advantage. Tied for 29th last year with an impressive 1.44 SG: Putting per round. Hasn’t played since missing the cut at The RSM Classic but had success against weaker fields last year with three top 10s. The tournament host is a two-time winner here and more recently tied for second in 2019. Having slipped to 137th in the Golfweek rankings, he figures to split his time between the PGA Tour and Champions circuit this year but could start strong against a weaker field. The 2019 US Open winner dropped to No. 40 in the OWGR in an uneventful 2020 campaign in which he had four top-10 finishes in 19 events but never really seemed to challenge for the winner’s circle. He tied for second in 2011 at this event but on different courses. Missed this event last year for the birth of his child, but finished 2nd, T-3 and T-2 from 2017-19. Leads those with a minimum of four rounds played on the Stadium Course with 2.56 strokes gained per round. First on Tour in Total Driving through five events played on the 2020-21 season. Tied for sixth last year with 2.66 SG: Tee-to-Green per round. No. 46 in the Golfweek rankings and 15 in the OWGR. Hasn’t played since a missed cut at the 2020 Masters. Finished just T-61 here last year but averaged 1.61 SG: Off-the-Tee per round and has improved his short game. Ranked second on Tour in Par 4 Efficiency: 400-450 Yards last year. That’s the key distance at PGA West with 11 of 20 par 4s between the Stadium Course and Nicklaus Tournament Course falling in that range. Last week’s winner finished T-17 here last year with 3.00 SG: Approach per round. He’d be ranked higher if it weren’t for the long trip back from Hawaii. Tied for 14th last year despite losing strokes on the greens, on approach and off the tee. Was off last week after finishing T-31 at the Sentry Tournament of Champions. The former world No. 1 makes his 2021 debut having slipped to No. 54 in the Golfweek rankings. He has never played this event. Has averaged 0.73 strokes gained per round over 11 career rounds on the Stadium Course. He finished alone in second with 2.38 SG: Putting and 3.32 SG: Tee-to-Green per round last year. Disappointed with a T-56 result as a popular betting pick last week at the Sony Open. He continues to strike the ball well but is struggling on the greens. A somewhat surprising entry this week coming off a T-21 at the Tournament of Champions. He ended his 2020 schedule with a T-3 finish in a strong field at the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai. Debuted here last year with a third-place finish. Still trying to get back on track after having to withdraw from the 2020 US Open due to a positive COVID-19 result. Became the betting favorite after world No. 2 Jon Rahm withdrew Monday for an undisclosed reason. Tied for ninth in his lone appearance here in 2019 with 3.13 SG: Approach and 3.45 SG: Tee-to-Green. He’s 10th in the Golfweek rankings and is the top golfer in the field by that measure. Golfweek: Follow @EstenMcLaren on Twitter. Follow SportsbookWire on Twitter and like us on Facebook. Making money from Sports Betting Affiliate Programs. п»їMaking money from Sports Betting Affiliate Programs. There is a new and explosive trend in the world of gambling and sports betting—Internet sports betting. People are finding out in droves through Internet searches and word of mouth how simple it is to bet on sports on the World Wide Web. The Internet is saturated with new ideas and schemes to вЂget rich quick’—but few are successful, except if you are dealing in sports betting. The introduction of the Internet has especially opened the floodgates for the sports betting industry. The Internet finally allowed websites and their owners to tap into an audience and membership worldwide instead of only a local audience. The diversity of members has increased the feasibility of the sports betting industry online and has created one of the chief and most commanding online sectors. These sports betting websites turn over billions of dollars every year and are growing more and more every day. What if I told you that you could make money as a sports betting affiliate without ever risking even a penny of your own money? It’s true. There are literally thousands of sports betting websites all vying for a piece of the pie. The big money is not only being made by the facilitators of the sports betting websites, but rather by an affiliate system. The sports betting affiliate program is evident on most of the sports betting and gambling websites. They offer a bounty and/or revenue sharing program to help advertise their particular sports betting website, hopefully above the others. Bounty sharing, in terms of sports betting affiliate systems, offers you a reward for attracting a new, paying customer. You, as an affiliate, can do this by word of mouth, directing traffic on your website to a particular sports betting website and advertising. This is a вЂtake the money and run’ effort—a one time payment for your efforts of drawing in new, paying customers. However, bounty sharing may not be the most profitable venture in the long run. Many sports betting websites offer a revenue sharing affiliate program. The programs offered vary slightly from company to company, however the generalized idea is that you earn a percentage of the money spent by a player, which usually runs between 20 and 35 percent and in some cases, you can also earn money on player deposits. 20 percent may not seem like very much money, but it can indeed add up to a large amount of cash—your cash—as you build your referral base of paying sports betters. As they say, “the bookie never loses”—you are placing your bets on the right side of the coin by joining as an affiliate. Let’s face it—advertising is expensive and getting yourself to the top of the вЂGoogle scale’ is nearly impossible without investing thousands and thousands of dollars and then the websites have to worry about getting people to click specifically on their website. There is a better way for them to market their sports betting website. A way to stretch their dollar further and work that much harder for them—by paying you to advertise for them. Nothing travels faster than word of mouth advertising—by placing a banner on your website, which already generates traffic, they only pay you for the paying customers that your website or link generates for their sports betting site. Do not confuse this for a вЂclick-through’ program—it’s not. This type of sports betting affiliate program requires the customer that clicks through your banner/website/link to actually sign up to the sports betting website, deposit money and gamble it. What do they have to lose? Twenty percent of how much ever much money your clientele spends. That leaves the sports betting website 80 percent of the pie, which in turn equals cheap advertising and marketing for them, and possibly mega bucks for you. As your paying referred clientele list grows with the sports betting affiliate program, so will your earnings. Think about it—if you have 10 people who spend $100 dollars a month at the sports betting website, you have earned yourself $200 with very little work. If you have 50 paying referrals who each spend $250 a month—at 20 percent you have just earned yourself $2,500 for simply directing traffic from your website to sign up on a sports betting site. What’s more, you have nothing to lose and money to gain. Even if your referred clients win big throughout the month, most sports betting affiliate programs do not carry over a negative balance. The more of your own advertising you do for the company, the sweeter your own rewards will be. What are you waiting for? The time to act is now—it is never too late to get a piece of this fast-growing evolution in gambling.

п»їThese Were the 3 Best Sports Betting Stocks of 2020. Betting online may be the future of sports gambling. Sports betting is big business around the world, and it's been dominated for decades by traditional land-based casinos. That's changing as betting moves online, and the mobile gambling market took a major step forward in 2020 as more states legalized online gambling, and thousands of people began betting legally at home during the pandemic. A few companies hit public markets as well, bringing even more attention and funding to the industry. As we look back on the year and forward to 2021, the sports betting market has three clear winners in my eyes: DraftKings (NASDAQ:DKNG) , MGM Resorts International (NYSE:MGM) , and the little known GAN Limited (NASDAQ:GAN) . Image source: Getty Images. DraftKings. The hottest sports betting stock of 2020 was DraftKings, hands down. The company hit the market through a special purpose acquisition company and hasn't looked back. Shares shot higher as the pandemic wore on and sports came back, helped by investors hoping that online betting would begin to replace in-person betting. For the year, shares are up 406%. In some ways, the boom in online betting is happening faster than expected, and that's helped early movers like DraftKings. In New Jersey, which is the bellwether for online gambling because it was the biggest early state to allow betting, there were $91.8 million in bets in November 2020 alone, up 86.9% from a year ago. If that growth and level of revenue are any indication of the potential for the rest of the country, DraftKings has a long runway ahead. The third-quarter 2020 results were a small indication of how well things are going for DraftKings. Revenue was up 42% on a pro forma basis to $133 million, and monthly unique users grew 64% to 1 million. Revenue is also expected to be $750 million to $850 million in 2021, up 45% at its midpoint from 2020 guidance. This is a sports betting stock with a lot going for it and maybe just at the beginning of its growth story. MGM Resorts. As gambling moves online, companies with a physical presence can sometimes have an advantage over digital-only companies. They have known brands, regulators sometimes require a physical presence to operate in a state, and there can be synergies between real-world and online casinos. That's the space that MGM Resorts is trying to fill, and it's done so relatively well in 2020. The joint venture MGM Resorts built to enter the space is BetMGM, which is now offered in eight states and is growing as quickly as states will allow. Like DraftKings, the company is limited by what's legal in the U.S., but betting should be opening up in more states long term. What I like about MGM as a sports betting play is that it has a foundation as a physical casino company. MGM can use the cash flow from its casinos to fund online gambling development, and if it does that successfully it should add a lucrative business to the portfolio. GAN Limited. DraftKings and MGM are the companies that are taking bets and building the apps that consumers are using, but GAN is building the background infrastructure that online gambling is built on. Its software services include player identity validation, payment services, regulatory reporting, and even some game content. And with the recently announced acquisition of Coolbet, it'll enter the sports betting market worldwide. If sports betting continues to grow, GAN will be one of the beneficiaries because it's providing services to multiple players. And I would expect some casinos and game companies that don't have the capital to build their own infrastructure to lean on a company like GAN. What's exciting about GAN is that it has the opportunity to grow with the online gambling and sports betting industries as well as grow the services it offers to clients. It already has a turnkey solution for infrastructure, but don't be surprised to see more games added to the portfolio so GAN can white-label the entire casino experience. That's where the real money will be made for this gambling stock.

International Sports Betting. The internet has made the world a much smaller place . It’s so easy now to get access to even the most obscure of betting markets from across the globe. If you stop and think about it, any online bookmaker that you happen to land at will be an international betting site. That’s because if you browse around the markets inside the sportsbook you won’t find options from just one specific country and that’s it. Sportsbooks at online betting sites are so extensive and that has been one of the huge benefits of online sports betting. If you can recall a time back before the explosion of the internet, then how often would you ever find out what was going on in say the French top-flight football or from La Liga? It’s unlikely that you would have any kind of insight into a world outside your sporting doorstep. But now international betting has become a pretty big thing. It’s not uncommon to jump on an online betting site and do this with no second thought. Look at the UEFA Champions League. Say you go and build an accumulator there involving Juventus, Barcelona, CSKA Moscow and FC Porto. That’s four teams from four different countries so you are getting your bit of international betting down. For a further fun example. Think about some of the top events from North America like the NHL Stanley Cup Finals, MLB baseball, NBA basketball and American Football’s Super Bowl. Those are all major markets that any UK bookmaker is going to be covering with their services. So broadening your wagering to world sports betting is no longer a difficult or uncommon thing at all. You can also think about this the other way around. The increase in interest in Americans betting on the FIFA World Cup spiked back in the early 2000s when the national team had that brilliant and unexpected run to the quarter-finals. Four years later the betting interest from North American on the FIFA World Cup hit new heights. So again, technology has made the world of sports a much more accessible place. Top Bookmakers in our experience Bet365 Bet365 Review William Hill William Hill Review Sportingbet Sportingbet Review Betvictor Betvictor Review Paddy Power Paddy Power Review. International betting in-play. Let’s say that you are in the UK and at 11 pm when things are quiet on the domestic front. Get online and you are likely going to see live in-play international betting options from leagues and competitions from the other side of the world. It’s not uncommon to find action from says Chile’s top flight for example or the latest cup game in Argentina. So you have those betting options right at hand. This is the same for racing or if you fancy a bit of table tennis betting action from Japan. When you take a step back and assess the number of international betting markets that are out there, then you realise just how phenomenally immense it is. How crazy is it to think that there would be a flood of British punters who would wager thousands of pounds (collectively) on the Men’s College Basketball Finals? In a very short amount of time, bookmakers and betting exchanges have broadened their scope and have placed sports and wager types outside of a traditional bookies purview a mere mouse click away from an adventurous punter. It adds for a fascinating overall product for punters because, at the end of the day, the choice is never a bad thing at all. Maybe you do want to go and explore the international Volleyball leagues, or even follow the snooker or F1 seasons which travel right across the world. International bookmakers. Let’s not confuse the opportunities for betting on international markets of course with international bookmakers. There are rules in place. In the UK for example, to register and operate an account with a bookmaker who holds a UK licence, then you have to prove that you are a UK resident. You will need verification. However, let’s take bet365 for example. They legally operate online and accept accounts from a lot of different countries around the world like Australia, India, Indonesia, Macedonia, Malta, South Korea and Ukraine. So the services can be used for residents of different countries because of licencing within the territories, however, they may not have the same access to all markets and promotions say as the UK has. It is a bit of a complicated landscape is international betting. That is because individual countries hold their own rules and regulations about sports betting, which makes cross-border services some grey areas. Wherever a bookie wants to operate they will have to get a local licence to do so. But going back to Bet365 for example, if you are from Cyprus (a permitted country by the operator) and you want access, then you are free to do so. International Betting. Generally if a bookmaker thinks, through your IP address, that you are trying to access their services from an unregulated territory, they will block you. At the end of the day, while a VPN could circumnavigate that, but it’s not worth the hassle of trying to open an account from an unregulated territory. The reason that you won’t have legal protection is a big enough factor not to do so, along with potentially losing your money and even getting in trouble with the law. Probably worth a pass then. There are further complications as well. There is a difference between countries which are regulated and unregulated . Neither of these would necessarily require a bookmaker to hold a licence with them. An unregulated market simply means that the territory doesn’t have specific regulations about online betting. In both instances, it would be a high-risk thing to do. Then you have the flat out illegalities of countries which have laws in place to make online betting illegal. Best international bookmakers. It is a complicated area so the only advice that we can suggest is to take your interest to a bookmaker with a licence in your territory. If one of those bookmakers happened to be one that has a long, established reputation then your interests are going to be much better protected. If you are looking at UK based operators to use for your betting from abroad, then lean towards the major players. Think bet365, Ladbrokes, Paddy Power, Betfair, Coral and William Hill. These have big preferences are more likely to offer their services to more countries than a recent start-up betting site is going to be. But, you just have to find an international betting site that operators legally in your territory. A smaller world, bigger opportunities. So yes, the world has gotten smaller. Sports nowadays pretty much transcends international boundaries . You have NFL and MLB matches being played in the UK. You have the major European soccer teams all heading off to the USA and Asia for their summer breaks because of trying to increase their popularity in those highly profitable new markets. This old puts everything into one big collection of a global betting bundle. It is what you will see at your bookie, a wealth of international sports betting. It is a fantastic part of online sports betting that you have so much variety.

James Holzhauer returns to TV on ABC’s вЂThe Chase’ The Las Vegas sports bettor known as “Jeopardy James” picks up a new moniker: “The High Roller.” Before “Jeopardy!” there was “The Chase.” Not in the grand scheme of things, obviously, but in the mythology of James Holzhauer. In 2014, the Las Vegas sports bettor who would blossom into the phenom known as “Jeopardy James” won $58,333 on “The Chase,” the Game Show Network remake of the popular British quiz show. He comes full circle as one of the stars of the prime-time reboot, debuting at 9 p.m. Thursday on ABC. Holzhauer alternates with his fellow “Jeopardy!” legends Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter each episode as The Chaser, the trivia master trying to keep contestants from walking away with prize money. “I’ve been hoping for this job offer ever since” that 2014 experience, Holzhauer told the Review-Journal in November when the series was announced. “The Chaser must combine two of my favorite things: trivia smarts and the persona of a pro wrestling heel.” While only one of the three stars in each episode — Jennings is up first, with Holzhauer thought to get the spotlight next week — the remaining two are shown periodically talking smack about the contestants in the offstage Chaser’s Lounge. “The Chase” is a difficult series to explain, but it combines the buzzers of “Jeopardy!” with the theatricality of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” and a little of The Banker from “Deal or No Deal.” It also adds to Holzhauer’s collection of nicknames, having christened him “The High Roller.”
US election betting: Sportsbet pays out on Joe Biden win early. Even though counting is still going, a major Aussie betting site has declared Joe Biden the winner and is paying out punters already. November 5, 2020 2:21pm. Donald Trump has declared himself the winner of the 2020 presidential election and called for "all voting to stop" in remarks delivered live from the White House on . Donald Trump has declared himself the winner of the 2020 presidential election and called for "all voting to stop" in remarks delivered live from the White House on election night. The betting agencies are providing huge clues about the election result. Picture: Michael Ciaglo/Getty Images/AFP Source:AFP. A bookmaker has declared a Joe Biden victory, already paying out on bets for him to become the next US President. Sportsbet tweeted the announcement just after 11am Australian time, even though the election is yet to be officially called by anyone. The betting agency has paid out $23 million on election bets, but says it is still taking bets on who will win the presidential race. The betting site had Biden at $1.10 and Trump at $6.50 but odds has been shifting dramatically over the past 48 hours. Just yesterday afternoon, there was a huge swing to Trump, whose odds plummeted to a narrow $1.22. But this morning, things wildy swung back in favour of Biden as the race narrows in key battleground states. This is how Australian bookies were tracking this morning. Basically, it means for every $1 you put on that candidate, you would get the below in return if they win. HERE ARE THE LATEST ODDS AT 2:30PM: Scroll below to see how they compared to last night. Joe Biden is firming up in betting odds to become the next president as polls close in the US election. Picture: Jim Watson/AFP Source:AFP. In 2016, Trump was $2.35 before markets closed ahead of the election. Biden’s highest price was $26 in February this year. The US election has been so popular for TAB that it will hold more money for the historical event than the AFL or NRL Grand Finals and it’s the same situation for Sportsbet. RECORD BREAKING BET. Over in the UK, a British businessman is so confident Trump will win that he has placed a record breaking bet on the president staying in the White House. The mystery former banker used private bookies registered in the Caribbean to place a bet of $5 million ($A6.97m), with odds of 37/20, on Trump’s win, according to The Sun . If he is successful, the businessman could be taking home almost $15 million ($A20.9m). A betting industry source told the publication the bet was believed to be “the biggest ever made on politics”. While most indicators predict a Biden victory, if 2016 taught us anything, it’s that there’s no such thing as a shoo-in. There has been a huge rush in bets on the US election, providing some major clues about what to expect from one of the most crucial votes in recent history when it comes to the polls – and the betting agencies. WHAT DID THE POLLS SAY? On election eve in the US, there had been a flurry of last-minute polling, with the Des Moines Register poll showing Trump beating Biden 48 per cent to 41 in Iowa – a massive swing from its previous survey, which had the race tied. A poll of New Mexico from The Albuquerque Journal , which showed Mr Biden winning 54-42, was in line with the conventional wisdom that New Mexico was a little too Democrat-leaning these days to be considered a proper swing state. The latest batch of New York Times /Siena polls covered four different states. Those polls showed Biden up 49-43 in Arizona, 52-41 in Wisconsin, 47-44 in Florida and 49-43 in Pennsylvania. An EPIC-MRA poll of Michigan had the Democrat leading 48-41. Another, conducted by St Pete, showed him winning Florida by a razor-thin 49-48 margin. And finally, a pair of ABC News/ Washington Post surveys had Biden up 51-44 in Pennsylvania, but Trump winning Florida 50-48. The odds are in Joe Biden’s favour. Picture: Drew Angerer/Getty Images/AFP Source:AFP. WHAT ARE THE ODDS? Democratic hopeful Joe Biden has been the clear favourite across the major betting sites in the lead-up to the election. But as the vote continued into the night, odds switched back in favour of Donald Trump. Many believe betting odds offer a more accurate election prediction than polls, as people have invested their own hard-earned cash in the outcome. These were the odds according to some of the major betting agencies, as of November 4 at 6.30pm, so you can see how much they’ve shifted.

п»їPreakness Stakes Betting 2021. Sandwiched between the Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes as the second leg of the Triple Crown, the Grade 1 Preakness Stakes has developed a reputation as much more of a party atmosphere than its Classic brethren, though it remains one of the most important events for 3-year-old thoroughbreds and ranks as the second-most popular day in American racing in terms of attendance, trailing only the Derby. We'll be covering the Preakness Stakes betting as we count down to the big race with the latest Preakness Stakes odds added when they become available. The 2021 edition of the Preakness Stakes is due to take place on Saturday 21 May.
Preakness Stakes Betting Guide. Odds, Analysis And Picks For 2020. The Preakness Stakes is the third leg of the 2020 Triple Crown after being rescheduled to Saturday, Oct. 3. Tiz the Law won the Belmont Stakes on June 20 and he finished runner-up in the Kentucky Derby on Sept. 5. However, Tiz the Law will skip the Preakness and run next in the Breeders’ Cup Classic Nov. 7 at Keeneland. The Preakness Stakes draw was completed Sept. 28 and Kentucky Derby winner Authentic was made the 9/5 morning line favorite with Art Collector (5/2) the second choice. In another change to Triple Crown races, the Preakness Stakes joins the Belmont Stakes as a “Win and You’re In” qualifying race to the Nov. 7 Breeders’ Cup Classic at Keeneland. Trainer Bob Baffert is the leading trainer in Triple Crown history with 16 victories after winning his record-tying sixth Kentucky Derby with Authentic. He is tied for the most wins in the Preakness with seven victories and his last two winners won the Triple Crown – Justify (2018) and American Pharoah (2015). Best Preakness betting sites 2021. The 145th Preakness Stakes is set for Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020. Here is more information and tips on betting the Preakness Stakes, and how you can watch and wager on this year’s event. The Preakness post-position draw is Monday, Sept. 28, and Preakness oddsmaker Keith Fuestle will set the odds immediately after the draw. The field is limited to a maximum of 14 starters, but the only years the Preakness starting gate was filled to capacity were 2011, 2005, and 1992. Fans can wager legally at racetracks, simulcast centers such as Off Track Betting (OTB) Centers, and on advanced deposit wagering platforms such as TVG , BetAmerica and TwinSpires , where bettors in 31 states can legally bet on horse races from their mobile devices and web browsers. You can also wager on horse racing legally in the state of Nevada at the hundreds of casinos with race and sportsbooks. Horse racing wagers and bets. In addition to the traditional “straight” wagers (Win, Place, Show), fans can also attempt to cash big in the various “exotic” pools. Exacta (top two finishers), Trifecta (top three), Superfecta (top four), and Super High Five (top five) wagering are all offered, and cashing a ticket in any of these pools can produce a bigger payday. Win: Bet on the horse you think you will win the Kentucky Derby. Place: Get paid the place price if your horse finishes first or second. Show: A show bet pays the least, but you win and get paid the show price if your horse finishes first, second or third. Exacta: Predict the first two horses in the correct order. Trifecta: Predict the first three horses in the correct order. Superfecta: Predict the first four horses in the correct order. Super High Five: Predict the first five horses in the correct order. The Preakness Stakes betting odds are finally determined by the pari-mutuel system at the track which means your potential payout depends on how much money is in the pot overall, divided by how many bets are placed. The odds will fluctuate in the build-up to the race and never more so than in the final few moments before post time. Picking a Preakness winner. There are many ways to handicap a horse race, and there is no shortage of opinions or angles when it comes to the handicapping the Preakness Stakes following the Kentucky Derby results. From a beginner’s betting guide to the most sophisticated tools for informed handicappers, there are many pieces of information and betting guides to assist you in identifying a potential Preakness winner and narrowing the list of top contenders. Handicapping horses and the races takes much time, research and intuition. Beyond studying past performance charts and horse stats, speed figures, class ratings, tracks and bias, jockey and trainer stats, horse pedigree and even post position (Preakness draw is Wednesday, Sept. 30), a handicapper has to have insight and ability to find various ways to identify horses that are ready to win. That’s especially true in a вЂnormal’ year for the Derby horses that are running in the Preakness with just a two-week recovery. But the 2020 races are four weeks apart. You can review race videos, tracks, surfaces or find horses that had troubled trips in recent races. But it’s important to distill information that can help you identify horses that may offer some value next time out or others in good form or improving that can provide value wagering opportunities. Races and horses should be backed based on positive attributes and not as a result of who’s the best of the worst. As you study some of the betting guides and training tools, you’ll become better prepared and equipped to analyze races in a more meaningful way. That includes the Preakness Stakes along with the Kentucky Derby and the prep races leading up to the Derby. Understanding вЂhow’ a horse has run leading up to a race versus the far less important вЂwhere’ the horse finishes and вЂwhat’ time he/she completed their recent races will help you become more proficient. Trainer Bob Baffert has won the Preakness a record-tying 7 times (D. Wayne Lucas) including in 2015 with American Pharoah and 2018 with Justify, who both went on to win the Triple Crown. Baffert is the trainer for both Authentic and Thousand Words in the 2020 race Preakness. These sections below will be updated with additional horses and information as more runners are confirmed for the Preakness Stakes. Front runners and “need the lead” The pace often makes the race, and the Preakness will be no different. The horses that “need the lead” or will be forwardly placed and pressing the pace include two leading contenders and favorites Authentic and Art Collector . They will be joined up front by filly Swiss Skydiver. Stalkers ready to pounce. With Tiz the Law opting to not run in the Preakness, there is one less top contender looking to stalk and pounce. Ny Traffic may make up more ground as he did when closing in on Authentic in the Haskell before losing by a nose. Value Horses. Thousand Words and Ny Traffic going off at higher odds provides some horses with some value below the top tier runners. Art Collector moves up as the second choice with Tiz the Law out, but sharp horse players believe he’s a real shooter after missing the Kentucky Derby. Trainer Bob Baffert is going for his record eighth Preakness win and will have two chances with Authentic and Thousand Words both leading contenders. Last year, War of Will was identified on these pages as a value horse and he pulled the upset and won at 6/1 odds. The Preakness has been dominated in recent years by horses who set or press/stalk the pace, but most of the time those were simply the best horses like Justify, American Pharoah, California Chrome, Big Brown and the filly Rachel Alexandra. Exaggerator was able to come from well off a hotly-contested pace to win the 2016 Preakness. An improving 3-year-old or fresher and talented colt like Art Collector or Thousand Words may be able to pull another upset, but not at odds like Clould Computing (13/1) in 2017 or Oxbow (15/1) in 2013.

The Chiefs are the public's favorite for Super Bowl 55 with 60% of against the spread bets placed on Kansas City. The Chiefs opened as 3.5-point favorites but some big bets placed on the Buccaneers have dropped the line to a flat 3 points with 52% of the 2021 Super Bowl betting handle placed on Tampa Bay. The Chiefs still need to win by at least 4 points in order to cover the spread. A win by exactly 3 points now results in a push and all ATS bets being refunded instead of a 3-point loss counting as an ATS win for the Buccaneers. Super Bowl Over/Under. Unlike the spread, sharps and the public are aligned with the total. BetMGM reports 66% of O/U tickets and 62% of the handle are both on the Over; however, the line has dropped from an opener of 57.5 to 56.5. The Chiefs and Buccaneers combining to score 57 or more points is a win for those holding Over tickets on the current total and a final score adding up to 56 or fewer points is a win for the Under. Special NFL Betting Offer. BET $1 on Buccaneers money line, WIN $100 (in free bets) if Tom Brady throws a TD pass against the Chiefs. Offer available in CO, IA, IN, MI, NJ, PA, TN, VA and WV. Sports betting in usa. Even if you aren’t into gambling personally, tracking the progress of legalized sports betting in the USA is important for managing your finances. Online gambling is illegal in the majority of US states, but Congress has started reviewing those laws. Many states are also loosening the restrictions a bit. These changes affect every American and those with investments in US businesses because gambling always has an impact on the economy. Today there are a few betting sites in the US. But although not directly illegal, they operate within the murky вЂgray area’ of the law. The debates and voting for or against online gambling are some of the hottest topics today. If you are wavering on whether to support legalized sports betting in the USA, consider the pros and cons for you personally. This industry might offer investment opportunities or simply a chance to gamble legally. You might also get to share the benefits that’ll come from the boosting of local budgets with gambling taxes. On the other hand, the tax money might not get where they ought to go and gambling itself has risks. This business will also create competition for other entertainers and become a feeding ground for scammers. All in all, you must analyze all available information and possible outcomes. Then, вЂapply’ them to your personal situation, and make a decision you won’t regret. Legalized Sports Betting in the USA: Pros. The most important benefit of legalizing sports betting is money. For example, despite heavy legal restrictions, in 2014 the gambling industry brought over $137 billion to the US economy. The worldwide gambling market is expected to generate $511 billion revenue in 2019. Considering that taxes for gambling businesses are extremely high, that means a lot of money going to fuel the local economy. There’s also the consideration that people gamble anyway. The only thing that matters is that they don’t use legal US betting houses to do this. As a result, it’s the economies of other countries that get to benefit from Americans sports betting. Legalized sports betting in the USA will also mean the creation of new jobs and numerous business opportunities for different companies. These range from caterers serving lunch in offices to marketing agencies that will promote gambling websites. All this boils down to benefiting the economy and community as any business should. Legalized Sports Betting in the USA: Cons. On the downside, legalizing gambling of any kind creates a risk of scammers and other crimes. The money that get into the local budget from gambling taxes might be allocated poorly. This means that the region won’t get to really benefit from the extra cash. There is no sure way to prevent that as politics are too complex and some politicians are too corruptible. However, a well-thought-out piece of legislation that spells out how the money can be used will go a long way in preventing abuse of these funds. As for frauds and other unsavory characters, who might try to take advantage from the lift of US gambling ban. The best way to avoid them is to deal only with trustworthy operators, like Bet365 USA. Bet365 is an international corporation that carries licenses of various governments and undergoes regular inspections by independent auditors to ensure its fairness. There are many online gambling operators that follow the same rules, and betting through them is as safe as betting gets. It will definitely be much safer than going through shady routes available at the current non-legalized America. The con in regards to jobs and overall economic impact of these new businesses is that they create competition. This means that some current types of entertainment companies will lose a percentage of their patrons. If your business is tied to those, fighting legalization of sports betting seems best. What’s the Verdict on Legalized Sports Betting in the USA? Overall, sports betting legalization has more pros than cons as it can have a very positive effect on the state economy. This means investing your money in those businesses early might be wise. If you are a gambler yourself, you definitely should stick to legal operators only. On the other hand, legal sports betting will reduce business in some industries. Therefore, the choice whether it’s good or bad depends on your current situation and plans for your own business development. Latest Online Gambling Laws in the US 2020. The United States is known around the world as a land full of promises in which anything is possible if you work diligently. Maybe this is why people are surprised when they hear that online gambling is not legal in all the states country consists of. However, when the country officials realized that US citizens could easily gamble online by visiting any of the offshore sites, they started working on their own regulations for online gambling legislation. In 2019, the online gambling situation started transforming rapidly. To get a clear picture, we will cover online gambling by dividing it into two parts: online casino gambling and sports betting. In recent years, the status of both has changed across the US. To find out more about it, please read along. Online Casino Gambling in the US. Online gambling in the US can indeed be very confusing. There is a federal law that covers the country as a whole, but apart from that, every state has the freedom to regulate online gaming as they consider it appropriate. However, the fact is that no federal law prohibits online gambling. As a US citizen, you are legally allowed to place wagers online, but only if a site is not based on US soil. Considering the fact that offshore websites have no problem accepting punters from the US, there is nothing to worry about, as you will not get prosecuted for placing a bet online. All this struggle to understand the legality of online gambling came from a wrong interpretation of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006. One part of the act mentions that it “… prohibits gambling businesses from knowingly accepting payments in connection with the participation of another person in a bet or wager that involves the use of the Internet, and that is unlawful under any federal or state law .” Simply said, this has nothing to do with you as a punter. It prohibits financial institutions from accepting payments connected to illegal gambling, but it says nothing about depositing funds. However, financial institutions have found their way around this law with the appearance of e-wallets and similar inventions. Considering the revenue that online gambling produces, some US states decided it is time to jump into online gambling stories with both feet. At the moment, online casinos operate in a few states, and it is most definite that others will follow up soon. New Jersey. New Jersey is one of a few states that ultimately accepted gambling and everything that goes along with it. Online casinos have been legal for quite some time and brought in revenue in billions. You can rest assured that playing any online casino game at New Jersey’s online gambling sites is completely legal. Even popular casino directory sites such as WorldCasinoDirectory have already begun listing online options for New Jersey Residents. Michigan. Michigan finally said yes to online gambling legislation when Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed House Bill 4311 and approved the Lawful Internet Gaming Act. However, even though online gambling is officially legal according to law, online casinos are set to be launched next year. Michigan aims to make online versions of the existing brick-and-mortar casinos, which will take some time. Delaware. Another state that legally offers online gambling is Delaware. The only problem is that the revenue in this state is not matching up with the revenue generated by, for example, New Jersey, but it has been increasing slowly. Concerning a player’s perspective, you can choose any of the legal online casinos and enjoy your day off in peace. Pennsylvania. There is no doubt that online gambling is completely legal and operational in Pennsylvania. The state rejoined the field recently when it comes to online poker in Pennsylvania. PokerStars made it happen by getting a license under the Mount Airy Casino, thus putting a smile on the faces of Pennsylvania residents. On top of that, mobile casino apps are available and widely used in the state; however, that’s not necessary, as online casinos designed their sites in a way that they automatically adjust to your mobile phone screen. Nevada. Nevada is like a gambling base for the US. Whatever you have imagined a casino should have, you will find it here. However, when it comes to online gambling, the only form of it allowed in Nevada is online poker in designated poker rooms. They do have a legal WSOP site, but other online casino games are forbidden. New York. In New York, the situation that deals with the question of whether or not online gambling is legal can be a bit ambiguous. Although lawmakers have found some legal gaps that can be used to legalize online casinos, no official decision has been made. However, as Pennsylvania legalized online gambling, New York will have to do so as well, in order not to lose enormous amounts of potential revenue to their neighbor. Online Sports Betting in the US. Legislation of sports betting in the US was a real pain in the neck for both operators and punters. At some point, people were confused about what they can and cannot do regarding betting at sports in the US. Luckily, in May 2018, the Supreme Court ruled against PASPA, which represented the federal law meant to ban these wagers. As the federal law is no longer against online sports betting, it is up to every state to regulate the market within its borders. Some have already done so, and others are giving their best to make online sports betting possible for their residents. New Jersey. The best-known sports betting market in the US is New Jersey, where almost all types of online gambling are legal at the moment. The most prominent online sports betting operators in the state are DraftKings and SportsDuel Sportsbooks, the latter one offering the mobile app as well. Michigan. Michigan has legalized online sports betting at the end of 2019, but it hasn’t put it into practice just yet. If everything goes as planned, 2020 should be the year when everything will fall into place. Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania came back to life when many popular operators landed there. Now you can choose the site where you would like to try your luck with online sports betting. Some of your best options would be DraftKings and SportsDuel Sportsbooks, followed by Unibet, Fox Bet, Parx, or BetRivers. The forerunner for online sports betting in Pennsylvania is SugarHouse Sportsbook, while the latest one to join the group is BetAmerica. Nevada. Nevada stands strong with what they do best. However, the process of entering the online sports betting goes through the land-based casinos. Namely, you need to open an account in person and deposit a minimum amount. Then, when you log in, your phone will use geolocation technology to make sure you are indeed in Nevada. Once all this is done, you can start betting online. Indiana. Another stated that jumped into online sports betting is Indiana. At first, the sportsbooks like BetRivers, DraftKings, and Fanduel gave Indiana a chance and cleared the path for more to come. Fresh from 2019, Iowa followed the example of other states. The downside is that it looked up to Nevada and copied the rule of physical registration at a land-based casino. West Virginia. Online sports betting was present in West Virginia in 2018, with the help of the BetLucky mobile app. Unfortunately, the app got shut down and remained that way. Now online sports betting is back and works just fine. Rhode Island. Rhode Island is a state where online sports betting became a thing in 2019. The leading operator for sports betting in Rhode Island is William Hill, therefore, we can expect the launching of the app in the near future. Mississippi. Online sports betting is considered legal in Mississippi, but the circumstances under which it can be done are kind of strange. You can bet via your mobile phone, but only while you are physically present at the casino — the one that has adopted this option. Oregon. Oregon has accepted online sports betting and launched its sports betting option — the Scoreboard. This is the primary app for placing bets online, but if you don’t like it, feel free to look for other options. New Hampshire. As 2019 was a year of sports betting, New Hampshire decided to follow the herd. Again, DraftKings Sportsbook has a central role in developing this type of entertainment in the US state. Illinois. The rules in Illinois are similar to those in Nevada and Iowa. If you want to bet online, you need to sign up at brick-and-mortar casinos. Also, racetracks and off-track betting facilities are places where you can do it. Rumor has it that, in the future, you will be able to do everything online, and we expect to witness it in 2020. Tennessee. Last but not least, Tennessee is ready for online sports betting. They are set to develop it fully and offer many sites and apps for online sports betting throughout this year.
Online Gambling: Is it Legal? Thousands of Americans gamble online. But is online gambling legal? We break it down to show you what you can do, what you can't do, and what's still up in the air. by Katherine Butler updated September 03, 2020 В· 2 min read. The legality of online gambling is ever-changing. But one thing is constant: it makes a lot of money. Online gambling industry makes an estimated $1 billion dollars annually. This is a huge business, and a lot of people have cashed in on it. But it has led to some ambiguous legal issues, as the legality of online gambling is constantly being challenged. There are differences in the legality of making bets, taking bets, facilitating payments to casinos, and advertising on websites. And there are constantly new legal challenges. So here is a breakdown of the law on online gambling. Legal Forms of Gambling. There is no federal law against placing a wager online. So, you can legally place a bet online. However, a wager must not be placed on a site located in the United States. There is a small chance players might run afoul of state law, but there is little chance of prosecution. The only case cited where a person got into trouble with a state was in 2003. Jeffrey Trauman of North Dakota paid a $500 fine on over $100,000 of online sports bet winnings. Sites that are set up outside of the United States are legal. Therefore, gambling on websites located in areas like Australia, the Caribbean, and Latin America is legal. Just be very clear that the site you are playing on is not based on U.S. soil. Definitely Not Legal Forms of Gambling. It is never legal to gamble on a website based in the United States. Also, if you are planning to operate an online gambling site, stay outside of the United States. You must also deal only with casino and poker wagers (not sports bets) from people in the US. And you cannot take bets over the phone from people in the United States. Accepting online gambling advertising is also illegal. If you are a small publisher, you are less likely to be prosecuted, but why risk it? As of early 2009, only large and mid-size publishers had faced prosecution. In 2007, the three big search engines (Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft) each paid a fine for accepting online gambling ads, but did not face criminal charges. Other publishers, such as Esquire Magazine, have been warned by the government not to take online gambling advertising. Facilitating the transfer of funds to online casinos is also a bad idea. As of 2006, it became illegal for American banks to process transactions originating from or directed toward any online gambling operator. Because of this, several sites then refused to take bets from American players. But as the law seems difficult to enforce, it has not turned the tide completely for American players. Still up in the Air. Advertisers who promote sports books in magazines and on billboards may or may not face prosecution. So far, sports books have never been scrutinized for advertising online. And online casinos, poker rooms, and sports books have never been prosecuted for buying ads.
College Football Odds, Betting Lines and Point Spreads. Compare College Football Odds, lines and point spreads from Vegas style sports books daily. Odds and lines explaintions for all of tonights games below. Check back during the season for odds, lines and point spreads. COLLEGE FOOTBALL POINT SPREADS EXPLAINED: While the NFL is the most wagered upon sport in North America, college football is the most exciting brand of football you can watch on TV. The passion these kids play with is second to none and the century old rivalries amongst some of college's elite programs makes that one game a season sometime mean so much more than a national title. Since Michigan is generally out of the CFP discussion by November, there game against Ohio State is the be all and end all of their season. Michigan wants to beat Ohio State so badly, that some of the fan base would be considered there season a success if that's the only marquee win on the schedule. If you don't know some of the history of college football, I suggest looking into it. If you are like everyone else who reads this piece and want to understand how to bet on the basic college football options, you can keep reading. If you are a little more seasoned, you can skip down to the advanced wagering options by clicking here. If you want to know how to lay a few bets down on the futures market, I suggest you click here. Betting on the Money Line in College Football. As a concept, this is the simplest wager you can make on any game in any sport. The money line betting option allows you to place a bet on the team you think is simply going to win the game. In college, this bet includes overtime. Unlike the NFL, college football games cannot end in a tie due to their overtime format. The money line betting odds correlate to the listed point spread. In this example, Alabama are the favorites and you must wager $450 dollars to turn a profit of $100. If you are a homer or love betting on the underdog, the Wildcats will return you $300 for every $100 you wager on them if they pull off the upset. Betting on the Point Spread. Regardless of if I am talking about the NFL, CFL, NCAA, Arena League or upcoming XFL, the point spread is the most popular wagering option for bettors who love to test football betting skills. The point spread is an indication of which team is the favorite and underdog heading into their matchup. When looking over betting options for the college football, you will come across lines that look like the following: Depending on which side you select, your team must "cover the spread" in order for your wager to be graded a winner. If you decided to wager on Alabama as -7.5-point favorites, they must win by eight or more points in order for wager to be graded as a winner. One thing to keep in mind when betting on the point spread is that the point spread moves up or down depending on how much action a certain side is receiving. If you are able to lock in your bet at -7.5 and the line goes down to -5.5, your ticket would only be a winner if your team won by eight or more points. If they won six or seven, they would have beat the closing spread of -5.5, but your odds are locked in from the time your ticket is printed or you click place bet. Betting Game Totals. Despite being classified as the same sport, NFL and college football totals are apples and oranges. In college, it's easy to spot the teams that play absolutely zero defense. The scores from their games are typically in the 70's/80's on a consistent basis. In the NFL, there were only a handful of games that games that reached those totals. College football is more receptive to the spread offense, which is why sportsbooks have no choice but to inflate totals to try and cover their own butts. Let's look at an example of a game total: Texas Tech Red Raiders/Oklahoma Sooners – "Over" 78.5 -110, "Under" 78.5 -110. If you bet the "over" 78.5, there must be a total of 79 points or more scored in the game in order for you to be a winner. If there are 78 or fewer points scored, then those who bet on the "under" will cash their tickets. If totals are whole numbers such as 78 or 80 and the total happens to land exactly on the number, your bet, regardless whether it's an "over" or "under" bet, will be graded as a push and your money will be returned to you. Advanced College Football Wagering Options. Advanced wagering options in college football are nearly identical to those of the NFL. The only thing you will not find in a sportsbook in relation to college football is the "First Touchdown Scorer or Anytime Touchdown Scorer" market. Below are some of the more popular wagering options. This works almost exactly like the game total, but revolves around one team instead of both. With the "team total" wagering option, you are essentially betting on whether you think Team X will score more or less than the line given out by the sportsbooks. Texas Tech Team Total: "Over" 35.5 -110, "Under" 35.5 -110. In this case you have two options. You can bet them to score 36 or more points or 35 or fewer. The decision is ultimately up to you. This bet also includes overtime, unless otherwise stated in the betting rules provided by your sportsbook of choice. First Half Spread. The "first half spread" betting option is a trickier form of betting the full-game point spread. This option takes into account the score at half time in order to determine a winner. The first half spread is usually half of what the full game spread is. Depending on what side you are on, the score going into half time is what is used to determine a winner. If the score is 31-21 in favor of Alabama, bettors holding an Alabama -3.5 1H ticket are winners since they were able to cover the -3.5- first-half spread. As I mentioned above, the first half point spread is typically half of what the full game line is. There are only a handful of sportsbooks that offer up player props in college football, but they are nowhere near as extensive as the NFL player props. Typically, there will be props offered on one or two superstars per team and the lines will typically be inflated depending on who is playing. Jalen Hurts: "Over" 18.5 completions -110, "Under" 18.5 completions -110 Nick Chubb: "Over" 74.5 rushing yards -110, "Under" 74.5 rushing yards -110 Calvin Ridley: "Over" 4.5 receptions -110, "Under" 4.5 receptions -110. For each of these three player prop options, each player must go "over" or "under" the posted line. If you think Hurts will complete at least 19 passes, you would take the "over". If you think Ridley will be held to four or fewer catches, you would bet the "under". A futures bet is a wager placed in the time leading up to the start of the event on a team or player that you believe is going to win their respective competition. Heading into the 2018/19 College Football season, the CFP futures odds look like this: In order for you to successfully cash your ticket, you must correctly choose the team that will hoist the CFP trophy at the conclusion of next year's College Football Playoffs. Team Win Totals. This is another popular type of futures bet amongst pro handicappers. The concept is straight forward. Every sportsbook will put out a "win total" for every team long before the season begins. Handicappers must simply decide whether they believe that team will exceed the posted win total or fall short of it. Alabama Crimson Tide Win Total: "Over" 11.5 wins -110, "Under" 11.5 wins -110. If Alabama wins at least 12 games, the "over" would cash. If they win 11 or fewer, the "under" would cash. Check back often as these Football Odds will be updatedevery 5 minutes Powered by OddsShark.
NCAA College Football Odds: Point Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under. With sportsbook going mainstream in the US, most people turn to major sports leagues like the NFL, NHL, and MLB for their gambling fix. However, betting on NCAA college football games is also gaining popularity among bettors and sports fans. After all, most bettors who try their luck on NFL sports betting place their stakes on NCAA Football as well. You can bet that the Texas A&M Aggies will win against the Arkansas Razorbacks during the SEC. But did you also know that you could make other kinds of bets too? PAC-12 QUARTERBACK BATTLE ODDS. Utah starting quarterback vs. Arizona. Oregon starting quarterback vs. Stanford. Washington starting quarterback at Cal. Colorado State starting quarterback vs Wyoming. — The above odds are for entertainment purposes only — HOW TO READ NCAA COLLEGE FOOTBALL ODDS. If you want to bet on NCAA college football, you should first know how to read sports betting odds. College football odds will usually look like this: Date and Time – Date and time of the game Rotation Number – teams are assigned standard rotation numbers used by all bookies. Rotation numbers list matchups in order. It also lets bettors make their wager without mentioning the game or the teams that are playing. This makes it easier for gamblers who are placing bets on land-based sportsbooks because they only have to refer to the rotation number(s). Team – Visiting Teams are always listed first, with home teams listed second. This information is useful for bettors since home teams have the advantage of their home court over visiting teams, so they almost always win. If Syracuse Orange is up against the Florida State Seminoles, the first team listed will be playing in the second team’s home court. American Odds. Odds can be listed in either fractional, decimal, or American odds. In the United States, the majority of sportsbooks use something called “American Odds.” This is used in all kinds of sports betting, from the NBA to even the UFC. American odds are characterized by negative and positive signs and numbers. Mainly, American odds show players how much money they can win versus how much money they bet, and which teams are favored to win. Note that American odds always use a standard amount of $100 to make gambling a lot easier to understand. Negative signs indicate that a team is favored to win, while positive signs indicate that the team is the underdog. However, do take note that sometimes there’s no favored or underdog team. When that happens, the groups are simply listed as EVEN or PICK. HOW TO CALCULATE NCAA COLLEGE FOOTBALL ODDS. – or negative odds also show how much you have to bet to win $100. The Memphis Tigers have odds of -150 in their matchup with the Cincinnati Bearcats. This means that they are the favored team to win the game. It also shows that you have to bet $150 to win $100. If you proceed with betting on the Memphis Tigers and win, you will get a total payout of $250. This means that bettor can win $300 if he bets $100 on the Louisville Cardinals. The total payout would be $400. Why are you getting bigger winnings by betting on +odds? It’s because they’re the underdog team, and in the bookmakers’ eyes, they’re most likely to lose. So, bookies devised this system for bettors to still gamble on the underdog by offering a substantial winning payout if they do. More risks, more rewards. However, sports gamblers can actually make bets of any amount they want! Although American odds use the standard of $100, beginners can always use odds calculators when placing and calculating wagers. HOW TO BET ON NCAA COLLEGE FOOTBALL ODDS. Moneyline. The moneyline is the simplest to understand and easiest to do in all of football betting. Basically, the moneyline lets you wager on which team you think will win the game. Sports gamblers can make moneyline bets during the regular season and even post-season or bowl games. In this example, the Buckeyes are the favored team, while Indiana Hoosiers are the underdog. For the underdog, betting $100 and winning the wager, can you get $140 in profit, with a total payout of $240. However, calculating the odds for the favored team is a bit more complicated. In this example, betting $100 on the favored team and winning the wager can get you a profit of $58.88. Obviously, the sportsbook will provide an odds calculator that will do the mathematics for you, and will help you understand the following: Bet $100 on Ohio State Buckeyes who have odds of -167 Bet = $100, Odds = 167 Ratio: Odds/100 = 167/100 = 1.67 Win: Bet/Ratio = 100/1.67 = $58.88! So yes, sportsbooks don’t put random numbers on the odds of every bet. They are carefully calculated by studying the factors that could lead to a game’s result. Again, betting on the underdog gets you higher winnings because it involves higher risk. Point Spreads. The Point Spread is a bet that’s popular not just with NCAA college football, but with all of sports betting. Essentially, point spreads are betting lines that give the underdog team an advantage. Instead of betting on the likely winner, sportsbooks will list a margin of points called the spread. For the winning team, these are a range of points they should exceed to win the bet and “cover the spread”. For the losing team, these are a margin of points they can lose by and still win the bet or cover the spread. Take, for example: Here, the spread is 6.5 points. The favored team, the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, must win by more than 6.5 points by the end of the game to cover the spread and win the bet. Meanwhile, the underdog team North Carolina Tarheels must lose by less than 6.5 points to cover the spread and win the bet. If they lose the game by 3 or 6 points, the bet is won! If they manage to even beat Wake Forest and win the game, you also win the bet! However, if they lose by 7 points to the Demon Deacons and fail to cover the spread, you lose the wager. Note that -110 simply means that if you bet $110 and won the wager, you’ll get $100 in profit. Over/Under or Totals. The Over/Under or Totals bet lets you wager on whether the game’s total amount of points will go “over” or “under” a certain amount. The sportsbook will set a total combined number of points they think both teams will score by the end of the game. Team Name Totals Penn State Nittany Lions O 60.5 Pittsburgh Panthers U 60.5. If you think that the game will end with more than 61 total points, then bet on “over” (O 60.5). But if you think that by the end of the game, the total points will be less than 60, choose “under” (U 60.5). Sports betting sites put half-points or a .5 in case a “push” happens. For example, a game between the Oregon Ducks and Arizona Wildcats resulted in a combined score of exactly 60 points. A push is when the total score doesn’t go over or under. When that happens, the bookie will have to refund your money. Parlay. Parlays are one of the riskier but fun types of college football betting. Essentially, bettors can merge multiple wagers into one ticket to get potentially higher winnings. In short, it’s putting multiple bets into one major wager. For you to win a parlay, all of your bets must also win. It’s an example of high risk, high reward type of gamble. For example, you want to bet on the moneyline between a matchup of the Oklahoma State Sooners and Iowa State Cyclones. But you also want to bet on the point spread for Clemson Tigers vs. Boston College Eagles, and Boise State Broncos vs. Air Force Falcons. Not to mention totals on Wisconsin Badgers vs. Michigan Wolverines and Georgia Bulldogs vs. Baylor Bears. You can combine all these wagers into one major bet. If you win every single one, you will also win the parlay! However, if you lose even one bet, you won’t be able to cash in your ticket. Futures. Futures bets are wagers on events that are yet to happen. Examples of these include wagering on who bettors think will win the National Championship, Playoffs, or even the Heisman Trophy. Futures odds will look a bit different compared to other college football odds: The higher the team’s chances of winning, the shorter the odds. In the table above, Alabama Crimson Tide has a higher chance of winning the National Championship than the LSU Tigers and USC Trojans. However, the payoff is enormous when you bet on the USC Trojans, and they manage to recover from their slump and win the championships. Betting $100 can give you a shot at a $20,500 win!

The Kansas City Chiefs wil meet the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl 55 from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida on Feb. 7, 2021. The Chiefs opened as -3.5 betting favorites while the Buccaneers are 3.5 underdogs. After early wagers came in, most operators are holding Kansas City -3 (-120). If you were to wager on Kansas City -3, you would have to lay 5/6 odds (Bet $120 to win $100) instead of your normal 10/11 juice (Bet $110 to win $100). The return on Tampa Bay would be even-money (1/1) and a $100 wager would return $100. The total or over-under on Super Bowl 55 is hovering between 56 and 57 points. How to read NFL Las Vegas Odds. The point-spread was developed to provide a balance for both teams involved in a contest to entice bettors to potentially back the weaker team and receive points. The two squads in a game are listed with a title, either a favorite or an underdog. The favorite is usually the perceived better team in the game, as backing them means giving up several points. Ex. Bet $110 to win $100 (10% juice) Ex. Bet $100 to win $90.91 (10% juice) It's not uncommon to see other values posted other than -10. Examples seen on the NFL Vegas Odds pages could include -08 , -12 , -15 and -20 . The -10 price is the most common value in the industry while many books offer reduced 'juice odds' and that would fall into the -08 category. The lower-juice sportsbooks are normally found outside of the state Nevada. If you are in a state where sports betting is legal, please check out our online sportsbook directory to find the best and most secure places to make NFL bets. Another number that’s posted on the NFL Las Vegas is the total or вЂover/under’ for the specific matchup. If the favorite is designated as the home team, then the total will be listed above and vice versa if the visitors are favorites. All of the above numbers are listed next to the teams, and before each matchup is a Rotation number. The NFL Las Vegas Odds are listed in order of rotation and those numbers are generated and produced by the sportsbooks. Above each matchup and rotation is the Time of the game, which is subject to change. All game times are Eastern Standard Time. NFL Open Line. One of the best features on the NFL Vegas Odds is the Open Line. This numbers consists of the first betting line received from one of our Las Vegas or Global Sportsbooks. The opening line varies depending on the sportsbook but it provides a clear-cut rating that the oddsmakers use. If you’re betting on the NFL or any other sport, it’s a great idea to view the open line first. VI Consensus NFL Line. How do I bet on the Super Bowl? We know that you can bet on the Super Bowl and all of NFL Futures or bet on the NFL Draft at any time of the year, but what’s the process? The future wager or the “Odds to Win” bet on the Super Bowl is correctly selecting a team to win an event that takes place at a later time. A bettor will have his wagered money tied up until there is an outcome and bettors will receive fixed odds when they place the wager. In the case of the Super Bowl, you’re not a winner or loser until you see zeros on the clock in the final game. Most sportsbooks offer different ways to read to Super Bowl Odds. In the fractional NFL Futures Odds format below, you simply take the odds and multiply by the amount wagered. Ex. Green Bay (8/1) to win the Super Bowl. The Packers are listed as an 8/1 betting choice to win the Super Bowl. If you wager $100 on Green Bay to win the NFC and they capture the championship, then you would win $800 (8 Г· 1 x 100). Your online betting account would then credit your account $900, which includes your win and stake ($100). If you are in a state where online betting is legal, we encourage you to check out our sportsbook directory to find the most trustworthy and reputable sites and mobile apps to place your Super Bowl bets.
Betting On College Sports — Or Not — Often A Game Of Political Football. Prohibiting betting on college sports leaves money on the table, allows black market to continue to thrive. At the 2019 National Championship game between Alabama and Clemson at Levi's Stadium (Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports) When sports betting went live in Mississippi last summer, it was a no brainer to allow bettors to wager on Mississippi and Mississippi State football games. After all, there are no professional sports teams in the state, and SEC sports are a second religion in the deep South. “Tell me that people are not already betting on these games all over the place, anyway,” Allen Godfrey, executive director of the Mississippi Gaming Commission, quipped to Sports Handle at the time. But Mississippi is one of only three states with active legal sports betting that allow bets on their local college teams. Nevada and Pennsylvania are the other two. In June, when the D.C. Lottery rolled out its rules for sports betting, it “carved out” local college teams, making it illegal, for example, to bet on Georgetown basketball. Also in June, when the Illinois general assembly voted to legalize sports betting, it ultimately chose to carve out Illinois-based teams, which means fans cannot bet on Northwestern football or Loyola basketball. Reasons not to allow betting on college sports. In both Iowa and Indiana, which legalized sports betting within days of each other in May, fans can bet on any college team they want, but like in Mississippi, they can’t make prop bets. Athletic directors from Pennsylvania to Illinois have argued that bettors should be prohibited from betting on local teams to help protect the integrity of the games, and the athletes themselves. A common claim, and one made by Illinois State Athletic Director Larry Lyons during sports betting hearings, and Penn State President Eric J. Barron in response to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board’s temporary regulations last year, is that college athletes aren’t protected, or insulated enough from potential negative influences. “We are concerned that implementation is likely to have a negative effect on the integrity of college athletics and on the health, safety and welfare of Pitt’s students. Students may be more inclined to participate in gambling activities, possibly to their detriment,” Barron wrote in June of 2018. Student athletes, athletic directors claim, eat, sleep, study and socialize with the general student population and therefore are easily accessible and could be swayed into taking game-altering bribes. At the same Illinois hearing, another athletic director pointed out that there is still contact between athletes and other students, even when games are played out of state. Ultimately, lawmakers prohibited betting on any college event in Illinois or Illinois team regardless of where it is playing. It’s all about politics. “It was way more of a political decision than anything,” said Illinois primary sports betting bill sponsor Mike Zalewski (D-District 23). “We thought that if we didn’t make the athletic directors happy, we were afraid that lawmakers from those towns would oppose the (sports betting) bill.” Illinois sportsbooks also won’t lose much by prohibiting betting on local teams. Though the state is often represented in March Madness (Loyola got the Final Four as recently as 2018) and Northwestern’s football team has long since broken through its futile years and gone on to win three Big Ten titles in the last 25 years, the popularity of, and commitment to, local college teams in Illinois can’t touch what it’s like in Mississippi or even Pennsylvania. From Ole Miss to the MSU Bulldogs in the Magnolia State or from Penn State football to Villanova basketball in Pennsylvania, the impact of prohibiting betting on local college teams is significantly steeper. “Other than the Saints being close to us, there is nothing,” said Mississippi’s Godfrey. “It’s college, period. Since we don’t have a lot of pro teams, that’s what we live for, the SEC. It wouldn’t surprise me if in Florida, that college football games do better than the NFL.” Sports betting isn’t legal in Florida, so that comparison is currently unavailable, but in Mississippi, bets on college sports accounted for up to 64 percent of all bets placed through the first three months of the year. During that time, Mississippi, Mississippi State, LSU and Auburn all competed in March Madness, with LSU advancing to the Sweet 16 and Auburn getting to the Final Four. As the only state in the deep South with active legal sports betting, Mississippi certainly benefitted from LSU’s and Auburn’s runs, in addition to their hometown teams. College sports critical to Mississippi sports betting. According to statistics that Godfrey collected from Mississippi sportsbooks, bets on college teams accounted for 43 percent of all bets placed in January, 53 percent in February, 64 percent in March, 11 percent in April and just less than one percent in May, when there are, essentially, no college sports to bet on. Similar numbers were not available for Pennsylvania, but at the very least, the numbers bear out that Mississippi would have given up plenty had it prohibited betting on local sports teams. “College sports is very big in the South, and that is supported by those numbers,” Godfrey said. “If (a carve out) was the law here, I wouldn’t argue, but I think we’d be missing a lot of revenue here. I just don’t think there is a one size fits all here.” It’s laughable how some state legislators refuse to grasp sports betting basics: 1) Allowing college sports bets won’t create a tidal wave of nefarious activity. In actuality it will cast a light on corruption or prevent it. 2) Not offering mobile is an epic financial blunder. — Brad Evans (@YahooNoise) April 11, 2019. Even Zalewski admitted that if Notre Dame, which is in neighboring Indiana, called Illinois home, things may have played out differently. “One hundred percent different,” Zalewski said. “But as much as we don’t have a high Q-rating university in terms of athletic prowess, the universities do have a lot of political pull in this state.” From a stakeholder standpoint, banning betting on college sports is leaving money on the table and more importantly, leaving the door open for the black market to continue to thrive. In nearly every state that has considered legalizing sports betting, a key part of the conversation is keeping gambling money in state rather than letting it continue to flow offshore or into the pockets of local, illegal bookmakers. Black market can still thrive. “It’s wildly popular to bet on college sports,” said then-American Gaming Association Vice President of Public Affairs Sara Slane. “If you are an Illinois sports fan, and you want to bet on Northwestern, and you download вЂname-your-app,’ and Northwestern wasn’t there, what would you do? The options are to drive over the state line or go to the black market.” Louisiana State Senator Danny Martiny (R-District 10) knows that well. In his impassioned effort to bring sports betting legalized to Louisiana, Martiny repeatedly pointed to the fact that Louisianans take their entertainment dollars and spend them in casinos, and now sportsbooks, in Mississippi. “It’s happening, it will continue to happen,” Martiny said of Louisianans going out of state to place sports bets. “Those same people that go over to Mississippi and go to Arkansas and blow their paychecks, they come back to Louisiana and fight with their spouses and significant others, and they get arrested. It’s here.” Operators obviously want to maximize whatever market they are in, and lawmakers claim to want to drive as much revenue from sports betting as possible to their respective states. Whatever the amount of tax revenue, banning betting on a particular sport or team or level means there’s still money flowing out of a state, and that the black market, whether that is a corner bookie or an online app, still has a foothold. “It’s hypocritical of a state to legalize sports betting and then say you can’t bet on college sports,” Slane said. “I think it creates less transparency.” Said Brendan Bussmann of Global Market Advisors: “What are we doing about the college bookie? College and offshore bookies continue to win wagering on college athletics because while those are being taken off the table by legitimate operators, (illegal books) are still operating.”

п»їBetting Odds Explained – A Beginner’s Guide to Gambling. Betting odds tell you how likely an event is to happen They also tell you how much money you will win However, at first, they may seem confusing and complex Our comprehensive guide takes you step-by-step to explain them. If you’re new to betting, one of the first things you should do is learn how betting odds work. It’s critically important because it allows you to understand how likely an event is to happen, and what your potential winnings will be. At first, it may appear confusing, however, read our guide and let us explain it to you. In gambling, odds represent the ratio between the amounts staked by parties to a wager or bet. Thus, odds of 3 to 1 mean the first party (the bookmaker) stakes three times the amount staked by the second party (the bettor). What is Probability? The most basic level, betting provides you with the ability to predict the outcome of a certain event, and if your prediction is correct, you will win money. For any given event, there are a certain number of outcomes. Take rolling a dice for instance. If someone rolls a dice, there are six possible outcomes. Therefore, if you bet that the person rolls a вЂone’, there is a 16.67% chance that will happen. What betting odds merely do is present how likely the event is to happen. Bookies most frequently in the UK do this as a fraction, i.e. 4/7, whilst the vast majority also offer the ability to view them as decimals. Again, let us talk you through them. All will become clear. Using Betting Odds to Calculate Probability. Whenever you see two numbers separated by a trailing slash, i.e. 10/1, this is known as fractional odds. From this, you can calculate how likely a given event is to happen with a calculation. For ease of explanation, let’s replace the numbers with letters i.e. 4/1 becomes A/B. Here is the calculation: Probability (%) = B / (A+B). Hooray! We’re making progress. Given a fraction, we can now tell how likely (the probability) what we’re going to bet on will happen. Now let’s figure out how much money can be won using betting odds. Using Betting Odds to Calculate Winnings. Betting odds allow you to calculate how much money you will win if you make a bet. Let’s use the same examples as before, with the same replacement of numbers for letters, i.e. 4/1 becomes A/B. Quite simply, for every value of B that you bet, you will win A, plus the return of your stake. 9/1 for every ВЈ1 you bet, you will win ВЈ9. 4/1 for every ВЈ1 you bet, you will win ВЈ4. 1/1 for every ВЈ1 you bet, you will win ВЈ1. 1/4 for every ВЈ4 you bet, you will win ВЈ1. What About Decimals? Decimals are far more common on exchanges, such as Betfair, but all leading betting sites do give you the option to view betting odds in this format. They are an alternative to seeing betting odds in the fraction format, and in our opinion, are easier to work out. Here is the calculation: winnings = (odds * stake) – stake. Let’s illustrate it with some examples. 9.0 can be calculated as (9.0 * ВЈ10 stake) – ВЈ10 stake = ВЈ80 winnings. 4.0 can be calculated as (4.0 * ВЈ10 stake) – ВЈ10 stake = ВЈ30 winnings. 2.5 can be calculated as (2.5 * ВЈ10 stake) – ВЈ10 stake = ВЈ15 winnings. 1.25 can be calculated as (1.25 * ВЈ10 stake) – ВЈ10 stake = ВЈ2.50 winnings. You can use our bet calculator to help you calculate winnings. USE BET CALCULATOR. Decimal Odds Versus Fractional Odds. In truth, one isn’t better than the other but there is certainly a trend emerging towards decimal odds. Historically fractional odds were used in the UK, especially on racetracks and on the high street. There are two key differences. Generally, decimal odds are easier to understand. Based on this, there has a movement to attract more people to horse racing by making it more accessible to the average punter. Ten years ago, if you were going to Cheltenham, all the odds would be displayed as fractional odds. Now, they’re largely all in decimals. Don’t hesitate to check out our exclusive Premier League Betting Offers ! The second difference between the formats is that fractional odds only represent winnings, and do not include the returned stake compared to decimals which do include the stake. The transition from fractional odds to decimals largely kicked off with the growing popularity of the betting exchanges such Betfair. How Do Odds Work in Betting? If you are planning to start betting, be it casino gambling, sports betting, or any other type, it's important to understand the odds. It would be preposterous and absurd to think about placing bets without having a good grip on the main types of betting odds and the ability to read and interpret the various associated formats. The three main types of betting odds are fractional (British) odds, decimal (European) odds, and American (moneyline) odds. These are simply different ways of presenting the same thing and hold no difference in terms of payouts. This means that a chance (percentage probability) of an event occurring can be converted and presented in any of the aforementioned types of odds. How Fractional Odds Work. Fractional odds (aka British odds, UK odds, or traditional odds) are popular among British and Irish bookies. These are typically written with a “slash (/)” or a “hyphen (-),” e.g. 6/1 or 6-1 and announced as “six-to-one.” Fractional odds are used by some of the world’s largest bookmakers, making them the most preferred odds across the globe. Therefore, the total (potential) return on a stake can be stated as: For instance, one of the major sports betting websites listed the following fractional odds for futures betting on the team to win the 2017-18 NBA Championship. Below is a selection of the three teams that had the lowest odds of winning. Golden State Warriors: 10/11 Houston Rockets: 9/4 Cleveland Cavaliers: 7/1. It can quickly be determined that the Golden State Warriors are the favorites while the odds on Houston and Cleveland winning are longer. That is, one wins only $10 against every $11 wagered on Golden State to be the champions. Meanwhile, one wins $9 against each $4 (i.e. 3.25 times) put at stake for Houston to win, which is a bit less probable. For Cleveland, one wins $7 against each $1 bet. In the above example, if you bet $100 on Golden State to win, you could make a $90.91 profit [$100 x (10/11)], and could get back your initial stake of $100, resulting in a total payout of $190.91. However, if you wager $100 on Houston to win, you could receive a profit of $225 [$100 x (9/4)], in addition to the $100 initial stake leading to a total payout of $325. The potential profit for a Cleveland win would be even higher, as you could make a profit of $700 [$100 x (7/1)]. With the initial stake of $100 being returned, it would make for a total payout of $800. How Decimal Odds Work. Decimal odds (aka European odds, digital odds, or continental odds) are popular in continental Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. These are a bit easier to understand and work with. The favorites and underdogs can be spotted instantaneously by looking at the numbers. The decimal odds number represents the amount one wins for every $1 wagered. For decimal odds, the number represents the total payout, rather than the profit. In other words, your stake is already included in the decimal number (no need to add back your stake), which makes its total payout calculation easier. The total (potential) return on a stake can be calculated as: For instance, one of the renowned betting websites priced the candidates to win the 2020 U.S. Presidential Election. Here, we list the decimal odds for the candidates and the biggest long shot among the candidates listed by the bookmaker. Donald Trump: 4.00 Joe Biden: 1.3. These numbers merely represent the amount one could win against each $1 put at stake. Therefore, if one bets $100 on Donald Trump to be re-elected as president, this person could make a total payout of $400 ($100 x 4.00). This amount includes the initial stake of $100, giving a net profit of $300. Similarly, a bettor could make a total payout of $130 ($100 x 1.3) if they successfully bet $100 on Joe Biden. Deducting $100 from this return gives the bettor the net profit earned. Reviewing the prices that the bookmaker has set for each candidate, it can be determined that according to the bookmaker, the probability of Biden (favorite) winning the election is higher than that for Trump. The higher the total payout (i.e. the higher the decimal odd), the less probable (and riskier) it is for the listed candidate to win. How American (Moneyline) Odds Work. Let’s understand this with the help of an example: One of the popular betting websites priced the NCAA "Sweet 16" men's basketball game between Duke and Syracuse on March 23, 2018, with the following moneyline odds. In this matchup, there is a big difference between the two odds, indicating a much higher probability of Duke winning the game and advancing to the next round of the NCAA Tournament. Key Takeaways. The three main types of betting odds are fractional (British) odds, decimal (European) odds, and American (moneyline) odds. These are simply different ways of presenting the same thing, and hold no difference in terms of payouts. Fractional odds are the ratio of the amount (profit) won to the stake; Decimal odds represent the amount one wins for every $1 wagered; and American odds, depending on the negative or positive sign, either indicate the amount one needs to wager to win $100 or the amount one would win for every $100 staked. The Bottom Line. If you are planning to enter the betting or the gambling world, it is important to be able to understand and interpret all types of odds well. Once you have mastered the three popular types of odds (fractional, decimal, and American), you can move towards a more detailed read on this topic and find out how the house always wins. Please refer to Understanding the Math Behind Betting Odds & Gambling for the conversion between the different formats of odds, the conversion of odds into implied probabilities, and the differences between the true chances of an outcome as well as the odds on display.
How do betting odds work? Betting odds are used to assess the likelihood of an event happening. Less likely events tend to have higher odds and offer larger reward, while more likely events have a lower risk attached and therefore a lower reward. Your winnings depend on how much you wager on a given set of odds. Betting odds are seen in a range of formats – they are most commonly seen as fractions but are also sometimes presented as decimals. A quick introduction to betting odds. Decimal and fraction odds might seem confusing, especially if you’re not familiar with betting and all the betting terms and types . This handy guide is ideal for anyone new to betting, or if you’re struggling to read the odds. It contains a range of useful tips and tricks that will help you better understand just how betting odds work, so you can choose odds and place your bets with more confidence. Here, we will highlight: The key points of betting odds and what you should look out for. How to read betting odds and make them work in your favour. Tips and tricks to help you understand betting odds more easily. What are betting odds? Betting odds are used to present the likelihood of an outcome, as well as help you understand how much you could win from a bet. They are often written out as a fraction (e.g. 2/1) or a decimal (e.g. 3.0). Betting odds can be applied to anything that has a set outcome and are often seen in sport, entertainment, and politics. The odds measure the probability of a certain outcome, such as the result of a sports game or reality TV show, or whether a certain party gets the majority vote in an election. How do betting odds work? Betting odds are used to determine probability and calculate the winnings from a bet and are often seen in their decimal or fractional form. Odds are commonly recognised as being even, long, or short. Even odds. When something is just as likely to happen as not, it is given even odds. These are presented as 1/1 in fractional odds, or 2.0 in decimal odds. In this instance your winnings would be the same as your stake. For example: In the case of 1/1 odds, you win £1 for every £1 you bet. Therefore, if you bet £10 you’d win £10, and return £20 in total (your £10 stake plus your £10 winnings). Long odds. If something is statistically less likely to happen, it is given long odds. This means you have the potential to win more than you would on even odds, but the risk of losing is higher. For example: In the case of 10/1 long odds (or 11.0 in decimal form), you could win £10 for every £1 you bet, and therefore your winnings exceed your stake. A winning £10 bet at 10/1 odds would result in £100 winnings plus your £10 stake, therefore returning £110 in total. Short odds. If something has a higher probability of happening, it is given short odds. While short odds are more likely to happen, the winnings will be smaller, and therefore you’ll need to stake higher amounts for a bigger return. For example: In the case of 1/10 short odds (1.10 in decimal form), you could win £1 for every £10 you bet. Therefore, a winning £10 bet would result in £1 in winnings, amounting to a return of £11 (your £1 winnings plus your £10 stake). How to read betting odds. Betting odds are most commonly presented as a fraction or a decimal in the UK. Moneyline odds, which are common in the US, are also becoming more popular. Reading odds can be confusing if you’re not familiar with what the different sets of numbers reflect. Here, we explain how to read decimal, fraction, and moneyline odds. Understanding decimal odds. The simple rule of thumb with decimal betting odds is the bigger the number, the larger the return will be. For example, decimal odds of 3.75 will result in larger winnings than decimal odds of 1.75. To work out your winnings from decimal odds, simply multiply the odds by your stake. The resulting number reflects both your winnings and your stake. For example: If you bet £10 on odds of 3.75, you would return £37.50 – this means you’ll have won £27.50 (£37.50 – your £10 stake). Understanding fractional odds. Fractional odds are a more traditional way of displaying odds in the UK. Appearing in fraction form (e.g. 2/1), you must first work out your winnings and then add on your stake in order to determine your total return. The best way to calculate your returns from fractional odds is to follow a formula: This might look complicated, but we promise it will make sense when you plug your numbers in. For example: If you bet £10 on a 5/2 bet, your calculation would look like: For longer odds with a larger return, look out for odds where the first half of the fraction is larger than the second half. For example: Odds of 5/1 will return greater winnings than odds of 1/5. If you were to stake £10 on odds of 5/1, then your return would be £60. However, if you were to stake £10 on odds of 1/5, your return would only be £12. Understanding moneyline odds. The moneyline shows you how much you have to bet in order to win £100. If you are presented odds of -200 (because this event is more likely) you will have to stake £200 to return £300 (your £200 stake plus £100 winnings). In order to calculate the potential payout from a moneyline bet, simply follow this formula. Converting decimal odds to fractions. Converting decimal betting odds to fractions takes a bit of basic maths knowledge. First, take your decimal odds and subtract 1 from the number. For example: If you have decimal odds of 3.75, subtract 1 and you are left with 2.75. These are odds of 2.75/1. Odds need to be made up of whole numbers, so we need to take 2.75 and turn it into a whole number. The easiest way in this instance is to multiply 2.75 by 100 and move the decimal along two places. This gives us 275/100. From there, we can work our way to finding the smallest equivalent fraction. In this case, we can divide our fraction by 25, leaving us with fractional odds of 11/4 – previously 3.75 when presented as a decimal. That means those that become popular with fans will see their odds improve, while those that haven’t garnered as much media attention will face longer odds to win. Oddsmakers typically aren’t putting in quite as much effort when it comes to X Factor odds as they will in more popular sports like soccer or football. If you time your bets well, you can potentially get them in before oddsmakers are able to adjust . Betting early in the season is also when you’ll find the most advantageous odds from a value perspective. The X Factor Betting FAQ. Super Bowl 2021 national anthem prop odds: Top NFL expert locks in pick on length of 'Star-Spangled Banner' Jazmine Sullivan and Eric Church will kick off Super Bowl festivities, and here's the prop play on over/under. Oddsmakers set a length for the Super Bowl national anthem -- this year the number is typically around two minutes -- and bettors can decide whether they think the singer will finish their final note over or under that number. For example, if someone had been able to take Under 2 minutes last year, that person would have cashed when Demi Lovato clocked in at 1 minute, 49 seconds. But before you lock in your pick for the 2021 Super Bowl national anthem, you need to hear what SportsLine NFL expert R.J. White has to say. CBS Sports' Fantasy and gambling editor, White enters Super Bowl 55 as SportsLine's No. 1 NFL expert, delivering an 80-58 run on all NFL picks that has returned more than $1,500 during that span. His success is no surprise, as White has cashed huge twice in the world's most prestigious football handicapping competition, the Las Vegas SuperContest. White's top five prop picks for the actual game are included in SportsLine's 30 best prop bets (check out the 30 best prop bets from SportsLine's experts for Super Bowl LV), but he's also found an edge in the national anthem prop bet that you have to see over at SportsLine. But first, here are a few things to consider on each side of the prop. Why the Under makes sense. The Under has come in on the anthem in three of the last four years, with only Gladys Knight's rendition in 2019 soaring Over the number of 1:47 (though that was not without controversy after she sang the final word multiple times). This year's line is also the highest its been since at least Super Bowl 52, when Pink's line was set right at 2 minutes. Part of the research that goes into making a Super Bowl national anthem prop pick is finding clips of the relevant artist delivering the anthem at other events, and while there isn't much out there to help bettors land on one side with Eric Church, Jazmine Sullivan has sung the anthem at well under 2 minutes before. Why the Over makes sense. While the Under has been the right side over the last few years, typically the final number comes in at 2 minutes or longer on gameday. We saw a run of five straight Super Bowl national anthems top 2 minutes from 2013-17, and the aforementioned Knight rendition made it just over the 2-minute mark as well. This is also the first duet during the national anthem since Super Bowl 40, which at the time clocked in as tied for the second-longest rendition in Super Bowl history at 2:09. Since that Aretha Franklin-Aaron Neville team-up, artists such as Alicia Keys and Lady Gaga have topped that mark in solo performances. How to make 2021 Super Bowl national anthem picks. So which side of the anthem prop is White picking? And what X-factor has he factored into his calculation? Visit SportsLine now to see his Super Bowl national anthem prop pick and analysis, and find out.
The Updated Betting Odds for WWE Royal Rumble 2021. Bovada has updated us with the latest betting odds for this Sunday’s Royal Rumble PPV event. As you can see, the bookmakers favorites have changed drastically in the last two months. It was originally Big E and Edge for the men’s Rumble, and Rhea Ripley closely followed by Ronda Rousey for the women’s. As the event draws near, the odds have drastically shifted away from these picks. For the men’s, Daniel Bryan is the new favorite, Keith Lee second, and Brock Lesnar third despite no announcement of his return. Big E & Edge have since fallen behind. If Brock Lesnar were to return and win, it would set up a WrestleMania rematch with either Drew McIntyre or Goldberg. On the women’s side, Bianca Belair has shot up in to first place, along with Alexa Bliss in second. Rhea Ripley remains a cosy third, but Ronda Rousey has fallen out of favor. The odds have also shifted for the WWE Championship match. It was reported Goldberg was the favorite, but has since changed to Drew McIntyre, showing that bookmakers believe Brock Lesnar will return to reclaim the title from the man who took it from him. Would Paul Heyman return to his side while aligned with Roman Reigns? Speaking of which, the “Head Of The Table” remains the overwhelming favorite for his Universal title match with Kevin Owens. Aside from this, there are some interesting names included in the list for various reasons: The Rock, CM Punk, Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon, Paige, Kairi Sane: The Rock has been mentioned lately as a possible challenger for Roman Reigns at WrestleMania, but there is no indication of his return. CM Punk is still being penciled in for making his shock return years after his big falling out with WWE; which is very unlikely. Also, the chances of Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon, or Paige (her neck injury forced her to retire and has since fallen out of favor with management since mentioning unionization) returning to the ring is exceptionally low. Kairi Sane is currently working as an ambassador, so it is not likely she would return, although it’s definitely more possible than the others. Tyson Fury, Conor McGregor, Dean Ambrose, Rusev, Erick Rowan, Sarah Logan, Deonna Purrazzo, Zelina Vega. Tyson Fury is possible because he loves some time in the spotlight, but it’s unlikely he would randomly appear in a Rumble unannounced. The same goes for Conor McGregor, especially so soon after losing his title. Dean Ambrose (Jon Moxley) and Rusev (Miro) are currently in All Elite Wrestling, where Ambrose is a former World Champion. Rowan recently appeared on AEW’s Brodie Lee tribute show, so is unlikely to show up in WWE again soon. Sarah Logan is on an indefinite hiatus as her and husband Erik (of The Viking Raiders) had a kid in July. Deonna Purrazzo is the current Impact Wrestling Knockout’s Champion, so that’s definitely not happening. Zelina Vega was let go from the company after making an OnlyFans account, which WWE said goes against her contract. So most of these names are super unlikely, and you shouldn’t be able to place bets on them.
